I’m nervous now because I’ve just handed in my nomination form so I’m now officially a candidate in next month’s North Somerset Council Elections.

I’ve been undecided in terms of whether to stand. I think that if I’m elected I can make a difference, but by the same token, I know that it’ll be a lot of hard work if I’m going to do the job properly and that people will shout at me because they won’t always agree with you.

In the end there were two reasons that I decided to hand the form in:

• I want to make a difference
• I was told not to
